Consultant Background
Robert C. Huber, C.M.C, C.P.C.M., has been actively involved in the evolution and growth of the Campus Card Industry in North America for over 20 years. In addition, his 35-year professional management career has included the startup and management of 45 Burger King® restaurants, 3 hotels, and 2 campus radio stations. He has accumulated proven expertise in areas of corporate management, operations, training, marketing, sales, media relations, development, construction, startups, and technology.
As a certified management consultant, Robert Huber assists administrators and managers with guidance and objective advice to better define and achieve their organizational goals. His consultancy, Robert Huber Associates, is fully and financially "vendor independent" -- an important ethical consideration when selecting a consultant to assist you with making major business decisions for a campus (i.e. college, university, healthcare, corporate, residential). Robert Huber Associates is not affiliated with any card system vendors, card institutes, vendor alliances, long distance carriers, banking institutions, or financial consortiums.
As a system vendor for 8 years and a "vendor independent" campus card management consultant for the past 12 years, he has contributed to the development of the Campus Card Industry in many ways including:
- Adoption of the "4-year card" (replacing annually issued cards and temporary 2-week ID cards) in the 1980's.
- Introduction of the high coercivity magnetic stripe as the U.S. higher education ID card standard in the 1980's.
- Early development of video imaging card production technology in the 1980's.
- Development of the laundry vending "box-on-the-wall" concept to provide card access to many washers and dryers from a single multi©machine device in the 1980's.
- Introduction of the "All-Campus Card" concept (i.e. utilizing a single multi-application photo card to facilities access to hundreds of services) and potential elimination of 50-150 forms of single-function identification (i.e. cards, labels, stickers, PIN numbers) on the average 4-year college or university in 1985.
- Introduction of smart card technology to U.S. college campuses in 1990.
- Developer of the Campus Card Consulting Industry in 1992 as well as being the only dual-certified campus card management consultant in 1996.
- Supportive of the development of the National Association of Campus Card Users (N.A.C.C.U.) as an industry network & trade association in 1993.
- Research and publication of the authoritative and chronological "Campus Card History" (30-year) for historical reference by students, schools and vendors.
- Promoted the "All-Campus Card" concept as a management tool to solve ongoing management challenges and assist campuses with being more "customer focused" (i.e. not "consumer" oriented).
- Promotion of the "All-Campus Card" concept as a recruitment and increased retention tool.
- Promotion of the Campus Service Center concept (i.e. "One Stop Shopping") to centralize the delivery of many "counter services" traditionally decentralized by academic offices, student affairs, and business services.
- Serves as a facilitator for new applications, products, and vendors within the campus card industry.
- Serves as a credible media resource, industry spokesperson, as well as a national conference speaker for the Campus Card Industry in North America.
